I am having the same issue, game crashes after launch screen on my laptop.
It seems memory usage increases rapidly on that screen and it gets killed.
I did a really quick test (simply running free -mh in a loop). The available memory went from 6.8Gi to 22Mi in seconds and eventually the game got killed. Please let me know if there is any log/dump I can provide which could be useful.
I'm really enjoying Wasteland 2 (even with crashes during gameplay) and looking forward to playing Wasteland 3 and the DLC in June!

I was not sure if this was fixed since I did not see any related entry in the patch notes but I can confirm that I managed to start a new game and played a few turns! I haven't gone further then that for now.

Thanks a lot for the fix! Now I am much more excited about The Battle of Steeltown!
