You can finish this quest alone. At first i also thought that it wouldnt be possible because of the imprisonment. But thats not the case. You will not get into prison and therefore can finish the quest in a regular way.

But its quite funny that you can skip so many quests and will still be able to finish the game. One more reason why you can solo it even with a Level-1-Ranger. ;o)

Yet another reason that I love this game ;)
Skyrim was the best game ever so far IMO, with Far Cry 3 a close second.

Yep they did this on purpose. They wanted it completable by damn near any combination of characters, but wanted it so that you would miss certain content, hence you would have a reason to come back and replay in a different manner.
It's not too late. Make it Eight!

I very much like this concept. There are so many ways to play this game - great!

Added a small extra chapter to the Guide: The-improved-Cheapo. Have Fun! ;o)

Anyone else out there who has played or finished the game solo?

After 2 years we can say: There are many ways to beat WL2 solo!

1. Sniper or assault rifle gunners will have the easiest time
2. Immortal-tank-builds work fine if played carefully
3. Close combat assassins with max mobility are fun
4. A minimal-Kill approach works surprinsingly well
5. Using a level-1 ranger is challenging but very rewarding
6. Abusing the unlucky-quirk-lightning is all about patience...

Something else to mention? Comments are welcome!

Fun note at the end:
The level-1-solo-challenge also works for Pillars of Eternity.

Conclusion: Modern RPG´s are just too easy! :P
