I found an unopened copy of Wasteland? Anyone know the value
I live next door to a ebay/pawn shop store of sorts and there was a giant collection of old microcomputer games and other games from the 80s. Many of them were still in the packaging. I noticed an unopened copy of Wasteland right away. It looked like it was in very good condition. I know old computer games aren't usually worth much money but I decided to look it up and, on ebay, it seemed to be worth around $50 for a beat up used copy. Does anyone know the value of this? I found another game that looked very similar to Wasteland right next to it called "Fountain of Dreams". Anyone have a clue about this one? I went ahead and purchased the copy of Wasteland for $40 from the shop keeper.

Should I grab it? It's unopened as well. I also saw Police Quest and Space Quest along with some others.

I would grab Fountain, yeah. I don't know how well it would sell (because who's going to be looking for it?), but it's pretty impossible to find. The closest I've gotten to seeing it was reading a Let's Play that was abandoned after a single update.
It's not exactly Wasteland, but it uses a similar engine. It's something of a monstrosity, really. There's a short wikipedia entry on it, though.

If Fountain of Dreams is rare, how about an unopened cluebook for it?

Fuck yeah, I'd buy the lot of games plus all the Tyco trains, slot cars and track.

I've been looking a lot more into this "Fountain of Dreams" title. I'm really curious to hear what Brian's thoughts on it. Does he have an email or something I can submit a question to?

If anyone is interested, I listed it on ebay. It should be easy to find with a simple search. Thanks!

Just for giggles, I thought the community would appreciate the final value of the two auctions. HOLY COW. That was a gold mine. I'm surprised FoD sold for more than WL. But then again, it is probably more rare mint-in-box/shrinkwrap!
WL went for $580 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wasteland-PC-19 ... 0998555820
FoD went for $737.77 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fountain-of-Dre ... 0998829197
Congrats on the find!

Thanks. Ebay and Paypal end up taking a huge chunk of it. I'm glad the games will be in a good home. I took a picture with them for bragging rights and such before I send them off. It was a fun auction to follow. There were a lot of interested people from all over the world.

I mean... I want to play FoD, and would like to own a copy, but there's no way I'd pay $737 for it.

The guys bidding on it are hardcore collectors of Fallout related materials. They top two bidders belong to the same collector's forum. They frequently share and discuss big auctions.
I'm guessing finding a copy of Fountain of Dreams with the box is hard enough. Finding one factory sealed along with a factory sealed clue book seems to be a nearly impossible find.

Wow. That's a lot of money. I would probably just download a ROM if i wanted to play, because not only could I not use the 5.25" floppys, but holy wow, THATS A LOT OF MONEY!

I doubt they were bought to be used; they were factory-sealed boxes. Those are just going to sit on a shelf and look awesome.

And here it is in this guy's collection. Pretty impressive. I'm glad they are not collecting dust and potentially being harmed on a junk store's shelf.

Hopefully all those games weren't stored on or next to a big magnet. =)

Damaged version goes for $1925! That's about $1850 more than I would have paid for it.
