I guess you're correct. Personally I don't mind anymore, really. After such a long and fruitless wait for Mac versions I have already moved on and totally lost interest in both BT4 and the BT-Remaster.

Krome is still working on BT-Remaster. I got an update on it just the other day. And a Mac/Linux release, as has been repeatedly said, is not their decision. They're the developer; that's a publisher decision.

Per the latest BT4 backer update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/in ... ts/2530365), a Mac version is on the way. We won't be doing a Linux-specific version.

Why not? It's not supposed to be hard really. It's annoying you are excluding Linux users especially when it's so trivial to develop. After all, it's Unity of all things. You (or rather Krome) can find some community developers who can do it for you.phimseto wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 3:13 pmPer the latest BT4 backer update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/in ... ts/2530365), a Mac version is on the way. Running it in Wine is a suboptimal method and is used only as a workaround when developers can't make a proper Linux version. It also in case of the remasters has a few issues currently.

I doubt there will be any, since MS owns the studio now. I'm more curious regarding their future Linux releases. With MS at the head, I have my doubts we'll see anything for Linux from inXile in the future, but who knows. If MS claim they changed for the better, we'll have to see that backed by something real.Wintermute_of_Cof wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 4:13 pmI won't be supporting any future inXile crowdfunding efforts.

They're still doing Linux for BT4, which is what they crowdfunded money for.Wintermute_of_Cof wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 4:13 pmI won't be supporting any future inXile crowdfunding efforts. You could have just told us you didn't want to support Linux before you took our money instead of giving us the run around for years.

Re: Bard's Tale Trilogy Remaster - Mac/Linux versions? Clarification PLEEEASE!
As a Linux user I'm really disappointed, especially since when using a cross-platform engine, and already doing one port, a second one wouldn't be so hard. WIne is _not_ a viable, long-term, stable solution, but a quirky, lossy method to play a game with no native version.phimseto wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 3:13 pmPer the latest BT4 backer update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/in ... ts/2530365), a Mac version is on the way. But I guess that was to be expected with the MS buyout...

Because Proton.
Quote from the newsletter:
Translated: "What do you Linux freaks want? You already can play the game. You don't need a native version."Since launch, we’ve seen that Linux users have been able to play the game with minimal fuss, using methods like Steam’s Proton service.

No argument there. But there's a difference between a delay (even a massive one) and a bait-and-switch.

Glad to hear that the BT Remaster will be coming to Mac (and sorry to hear it won't be coming to Linux natively).
Have inXile and Krome considered iOS and Android for the BT remasters? I would love (and would gladly purchase again) to have the BT remasters on my iPhone/iPad, especially with cloud saves so I could continue a game from my laptop to my mobile device. Silversword, a BT-inspired game, is one of my favorite "old-school" RPGs on iOS. The BT remasters would be awesome.

Re: Bard's Tale Trilogy Remaster - Mac/Linux versions? Clarification PLEEEASE!
Things will probably only go downhill, now that Phil Spencer is always looming on the horizon.
However, we already got the trilogy for free as backers, so I don't mind setting up a Wine prefix for it. But I'm still annoyed inXile and Krome couldn't do such a trivial thing here as a proper Linux release of a Unity game, they are already releasing for macOS... It's a bad gesture toward Linux gamers.

Thanks for the clarification. Sad no Linux version, but I appreciate the up front statement.phimseto wrote: ↑June 7th, 2019, 3:13 pmPer the latest BT4 backer update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/in ... ts/2530365), a Mac version is on the way. We won't be doing a Linux-specific version.

I would love a linux version. The Linux version of Baldur's Gate EE works better than the Windows version on the same hardware.
