Quest: A Snare of Shadows - Question on result
Should I get the Spectre Snare at the end of it?
I can't find it in my inventory, so I'm wondering if I encountered a bug, or if just completing the quest does what you need.

My only rewards from completing the quest was XP. The spectre didn't even drop a loot bag.
I'm wondering if the snare itself is behind the side area gauntlet of skeletons.

Follow the blood. It will eventually leads to past skara brae where you'll have to fight 8 waves of skeletons.

Thank you! I got confused when I beat Shadow of Mangar and didn't receive the weapon but since the whole point of the quest was to get the weapon and it checked as resolved I figured it was some kind of trap or an homage to the earlier games. The quest log really should say someting like "You beat the shadow of Mangar, but the Shadow Snare is still somewehere to be found within the tower".

I finished it long ago, I just need idea how to cross the water, I can't reach the stairs!
Could somebody explain how to descend those stairs I can't see where I should go, since it's extremely dark there.

I'll have to backtrack and see if I can find that side area.

If someone needs to revisit the area where Mangar's shadow died to do the waves of skeletons (like I did), it is really easy to reach. After you enter Mangar's tower, there is a teleport next to the entrance that should drop you right next to the stairs leading down to their portal.

This may be a sort of homage. In the first game, if you went straight to Mangar, you could win the game without realizing that the Spectre Snare was in the square directly behind him. You had to explore to find it.
It's a tough fight against the skeletons, not helped by the fact that you need to destroy all the skeletons in each wave, or they'll resurrect at the beginning of your turn. Make sure you have area effect skills readied. I found the Fighter's Sweeping Slash, the Practitioner's Energy Barrage and Dragon's Breath (especially with Conjurer's Mark), and the Rogue's Rain of Arrows particularly useful. But the most useful tool for beating this battle was the Flame Horn. The columns of flame it creates will last through all the waves. I was able to fill the back row with flames, and guarantee that any skeletons there would die, and then just focus my characters on destroying the skeletons in the front row (any skeleton that starts in the back row will catch fire and be destroyed even if he moves to the front).

Nice. If you can get conjuror and meditation as a 0 channel skill with spell point unlocks. You can cluster and blow them up pretty easily too.

Conjurer's mark, arcane barrage, vampiric blade and song of duotime and you can do the fight in one turn.

SO do we finally get an answer on what the spectre snare IS? Is it a mace?

Does it matter? Remember the skills that effect different weapons actually effect the weapon skills no matter what weapon you use.Hieronymous Alloy wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 11:56 am SO do we finally get an answer on what the spectre snare IS? Is it a mace?
