Starting new game on PC and getting black screen (not crash)

Hi, I just bough Wastelander 3 and I can't start a new game. When I start a new game, after selecting the difficulty it goes to load screen. After the load bar finishes the screen just turns black. No sound. Not a crash. It just stays black forever.

This seems to be a somewhat common problem from googling but all the solutions I've tried don't work.

I've tried reinstalling the game, updating graphics driver, alt tabing out and back into the game, setting the AA to application controlled. None of it works.

Please help, thank you.
