So Many Negative Steam Reviews Yet So Few Posts....

What with so many negative Steam reviews from players you'd think that this sub forum would be full of people discussing the story but it is almost as though they actually hadn't yet played the game. ;)

Number of Steam users: 18,500,000
Number of forum users: 23,699

Odds are pretty good that any given Steam reviewer doesn't have a forum account. Or even know that these forums exist.

I'd happily admit that my experience is limited to the Beta. However, as the game induces a feeling of faint nausea when I play it I'm not keen to play much of the full release until I see it's sorted (hopefully a combo of FOV slider and turning off motion blur).

I'm definitely looking forward to giving the game a 2nd shot soon though. Even though I already know it's not going to deliver that classic dungeon crawling experience I was hoping for - I'm hoping it'll be decent in it's own way.

To be fair, if somebody really didn't enjoy the game-play mechanics, they may not have ventured far enough into the game to have much to say about the story. I know I've abandoned some games very early on when I didn't find them enjoyable to play (or if performance issues made the game too slow/buggy to play.)

But, nevertheless, I am hoping to see more posts about the story. I don't have a powerful enough machine to play this game yet myself, so I'm curious to know what happens in it. For me, reading discussions about the story will be a lot more interesting than reading complaints about the game not feeling like classic BT, etc.

Yeah, someone else mentioned if 'reviews' had actually simply been 'player feedback' the low rating would be 100% justified.

I'm not even playing it at this point, due to the lack of widescreen support and the FOV change coming up.

‘Lack of widescreen support’? What dimensions are we talking about? My 4K UHD monitor is widescreen and fully supported by the game.

3440x1440. What you likely have is a rectangle, not the widescreen I am talking about (21:9, 22:9, 22:10).

Ah okay, I have the 32" UJ590. Out of interest, do you use yours mainly for multi-tasking or flight-sims as well?

I use it solely for gaming :)

edit: If I could get away with it, I'd buy two for full panoramic rocket league, warframe, etc.

21:9 is support. I'm running at 2560x1080. Though it does jump to 1920x1080 on loading screens and some cut scenes.

There's a setting for 3440x1440. It doesn't work - and hasn't worked since the beta release when I reported it on DAY ONE.

*sigh* The game made a liar out of me tonight. Yesterday it was fine, today 1920x1080 with black bars on the sides. Then on loading screens it would jump up to the full 2560x1080.

This patch fixed it. I was freaking out at first since 2560x1440 changes on the base screen. 3440x1440 still doesn't. However once the game loaded, glorious ultrawide was achieved.

That plus the FOV, I'm ready to get into this over the weekend :)
