game crashes to desktop 30 seconds

Hi I have a reasonable spec pc (I3 12100 32gb ram nvme ssd 1080i playing on oculus quest 2 via ALVR or airlink. tried changing openxrruntime from oculus to steamvr makes no difference. game starts walk up to dais select game crashes back to desktop. if i loiter on that screen walk around don't select after around 20-30 seconds crashes back to desktop.
