Stealth

Going straight to the point.
W3 will have a stealth system? An maybe related skills like pickpocket?

Some form of stealth play would be nice. It didn't really exist in the original outside of a couple set places where it relied on a couple attributes and the Silent Movement skill.

One of the beta builds of Wasteland 2 gave the enemies vision cones so you could tell where you could move without being seen.

Since WL3 will (presumably) be isometric, the vision cones would probably be the way to go. Their size could be modified by stealth skills. Actually, if they wanted, they could get pretty complex with it, having the vision cone be based on the stealth skills of selected characters with modifiers for encumbrance and equipment and even a penalty if you have a large number of people selected at once (or if there's more people without stealth than with it selected).

That being said, I'm less interested in pickpocketing. It's never very well implemented (either too powerful or too limited) and I never much care for it in games.

I still want to see the promise of the Wasteland 2 Vision Document realized.
An assassin that specializes in lockpicking may unlock the back entrance to a hideout of Leather Thugs, take out their leader while he’s sleeping, and then leave quietly before the other dozen gang members know he’s there.

yeah, let's put in a stealth system so I can ignore and just blast away
seriously, if the AI doesn't attack me first, I set up in cover and just blast away

It's a little difficult to make a stealth system with a squad-like gameplay. Sure, some games like Commandos can do it but you're usually controlling one character at a time.

But with stealth, you may be able to get into BETTER cover.

That's a neat idea, if the stealth itself fails then you back up your shooting with higher evasion while in cover.
