Woo! Exciting!
(I see the Wilderness has been renamed "the realm of Caith" ... *fires up some popcorn*)
But the varying altitudes in the wilderness are a nice touch, beautiful nature, and an active casino - love it

Cool, I hope the player character portraits, the Review Board and the treasure graphics in the video are not from the actual game (but from BT1). Everything else looks superb!

Very interesting.. and 2:08 in, they show advancing to Archmage, and picking up three spells - but only two are original to BT2, of course.
Looks like Archmages now get Rimefang - which used to be Sorc/7 on BT3 only. Going to have to read the spell list carefully when this one comes up.. wonder what other changes got tossed in.

It's such a minor thing but I really love the enemy counts being shown under the po rtrait window and dynamically updating as the round plays out.

Woo hoo! Like the Cranford narrative accompanying the trailer footage.
Sad to see more Barrows Deepification of the remasters with another Caith reference, but looking good otherwise.

At least they aren't turning everything into Fatherites like the novellas.

Can't wait, I've been hanging out for this the past 3 weeks or so. I personally didn't mind the tiny bit of ret-conning and thought it was done quite tastefully.

The outside parts look exceptional. Much as I've been disappointed by BT4, the Remasters are about as good a job as I could have hoped for.
Well done to those involved at inXile and Krome.

Ha! In the other thread, I said I was most looking forward to seeing what Krome would do to improve the wilderness, and it looks like they nailed it perfectly!
The casino looks pretty great, too. I could see myself wasting a bit too much time playing blackjack.
Now I need to get back to playing BT1. I've put it aside for quite a while, and still haven't made my way out of the sewers.

I am trying (and failing) to refrain from begging for an ETA for exactly when I can expect the Destiny Knight update to go live on GOG. Even knowing that in all probability nobody actually knows the answer.
This year, I resolve to work harder. . . because it's obvious the world is not going to end itself.

Heh. Yeah, initially my thought was that I wanted them to be good for new players, but that I was content playing the originals in the emulator. But, Krome has done such an amazing job that the remasters may become my definitive edition of the game, if Legacy Mode turns out well.kaypy wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2018, 3:41 amA few months back: "Eh. This week will probably be spent on support for BT2 issues that arise, while getting BT3 items/monsters/maps converted over.
We still want to drop Legacy at the same time as BT3, so will need to start up Legacy talks again to discuss the best way to split up the legacy features and what platform featureset is considered the "Legacy" version... coz we don't have the resources to make the game play like every platform...
(I'd be learning towards c64 here).
I think I'd like to get a minimum legacy set working at BT3 drop, and then develop the final bits through steam Beta so I can get more iterative approach on it.
More on all that next week.

Re: The Bard's Tale Trilogy "The Destiny Knight" Launch Trailer
As for legacy mode, I'm partial to the C64 because that's how I (and most other old-schoolers here) experienced the game first. A close second would be the original Apple version.
What about bugfixes, will these also be undone in legacy mode?

Re: The Bard's Tale Trilogy "The Destiny Knight" Launch Trailer
The legacy feature I don't want to see is "BT3 - Amiga Mode Random Encounters" where you fight a new battle every 2 steps. C64 sounds good.
