Status Update: Backers & Premium+ Digital Extras

Hi everyone,

We'd like to give you all a status update on where things are currently at with the digital extras for the game. Unfortunately, on release day, both our partners CrowdOx and Xsolla faced a situation where these were not distributed as planned, and it took them some time to sort it out.

If you are still missing your digital rewards, please read below.


If you purchased the game on Steam:

All users who purchased the game directly on Steam should have now received digital extras dependent on the version of the game they got. You should be able to see a listing for your extras as a DLC under your Steam Library entry for The Bard's Tale IV. If Steam hasn't downloaded the extras yet, please try re-checking the box and see if that causes it to begin downloading.

To see your digital extras, you can open the game's installation folder (or go to The Bard's Tale IV in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files) and then check inside the "Extras" folder.

If you purchased the game on Steam but are not seeing your digital extras or DLCs listed, please let us know by replying to this thread.


If you backed the game on Kickstarter/CrowdOx:

All backers of the game received a regular game key, and all digital extras have been delivered by CrowdOx directly via email. If you've got your game key, you should already have all your digital extras provided as download links in that same email.

CrowdOx recently rolled out an account system that should make getting and managing your digital rewards easier. Those of you who want to sign up for a CrowdOx account instead of using email, or who are not receiving your rewards emails, are advised to check out this help page for more instructions: https://inxile.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/art ... r-Rewards-

Please check your spam folder for any CrowdOx emails. We have had reports that some are ending up flagged as spam, and users may not be seeing them as a result.

If you continue to have problems, such as missing rewards on your CrowdOx account, or you changed your email and can no longer access your rewards, please visit our support page and submit a request: https://inxile.zendesk.com/hc/en-us


If you preordered the game on Xsolla:

Some Xsolla users who purchased higher-tier editions of the game have not yet received those rewards. We are now taking over the fulfillment process from Xsolla and moving all those customers over to CrowdOx. We will be setting up special reward packages for those users, and sending out upgrade keys to them so they can download their digital extras.

This process will take a little extra time as we need to coordinate with CrowdOx on the data import and setup process, as well as on getting the required Steam and GOG keys, but you should be getting an email with the details in the near future. In the meantime, we are also trying to prioritize any of you who have reached out to us directly. Thank you for your patience.


What about the in-game goodies?

The Bardic Brian Skin is available during Character Creation as one of the Bard variants, and the Lute of Compulsory Cavorting can be found during gameplay by all players.

For any bonus items that require a code to unlock (Fire Horn, Kael's Axe, Bardic Brian Booty, and Red Boots), look inside your Extras folder in the game install directory. You will need to enter the code(s) into the "Redeem Code" field inside the Options menu -> Gameplay tab (scroll down to find it) after loading a save file or starting a new game. After they've been unlocked, you can find them around the Adventurer's Guild and Skara Brae Underground.


Buyers and backers alike getting their digital goods and game keys is our number one priority right now, and we understand the frustration some of you have experienced. We're continuing to work with you answering support emails, messages, and coordinating with our external partners until everything is resolved. Thanks again to everyone for your continued patience.
