I think that I can safely speak for many older players that while we fondly remember having to figure stuff out on our own, it certainly would have been nice to have the internet back then to help with some things!

What, you didn't ask help on the local BBS?

This. Of course, I didn't have my first modem until after I had already played and beaten BT1.

Not that I remember. Not saying it was easy mind you - I do remember taking days to solve some of the harder riddles. I also remember meeting fellow gamers, talking about games we had played and getting an amazed reaction that I completed BT2 because no one knew anyone who had done that so there probably was not a lot of help on our local (I do not live in the USA) BBSs back then anyway.

My 300 baud modem wouldn't cooperate.

My first functional modem was a screaming fast 4800.

My first Hayes compatible dialing string was ATDP rather than ATDT until we got tone dialing for our phone line.

Beat me by just a bit. IIRC, I used a 1200 baud but only shortly before getting 2400. I think I entered just as ATDT was the norm. I was a kid though. It was a while before I got my own phone line; I started by being allowed an hour or two on the landline each night. :)

In 3,5 hours. 16:00 MEZ (German time) - according to Steam.

So here's the thing, in less than an hour The Bard's Tale trilogy goes live for sale on Steam and GOG. So surely the sensible thing to do would have been to sort out the keys YESTERDAY. Seriously, did Inxile hire someone just to make sure the ball was dropped on everything to do with this project?

Considering the professionalism that i have seen in this whole BT4 project so far it is simply not done yet and they hope to finish it in the last few hours.

Tbh the Steam / GOG keys could have been distributed as soon as it was added to those sites. That was about a week ago I think? We could have activated the game and it wouldn't have affected when we could download it, but we could have all been ready.

People have also been unable to buy the game as well on either of those sites to date, which has caused confusion as some people have assumed it will be free

Still, the main thing is it's released on time and works well. Fingers crossed for that in the next hour

Less than a hour to go and no sign of keys, looks like KS backers will be second-class to day 1 buyers :|

Emails have begun going out to backers. There was a delay because we opted to make a GOG version of the remasters available, and long story short the infrastructure to support backer choice of platform for the remasters only got finalized late last night on CrowdOx.
