Alternative portraits for last castoff

I'm really sorry, but the portrait for last castoff is absolutely horrible.

I could not play and watch something like that.
I had to make some changes...

If you want to use this or any other portrait, then you must:

1. Get the Unity Asset Bundle Extractor tool (UABE)

Code: Select all

2. Open resources.assets in WIN/TidesOfNumenera_Data folder inside your Steam TTON game folder
3. Find textures Portrait-LCO_Male and Portrait-LCO_Male and extract them as tga using the Plugins button on the right
4. Edit the textures in your preferred graphic editor
5. Import the new textures to replace the old one using the "edit" Plugin in UABE
6. Save the changes resources.assets (this will create a new file sharedassets4.assets)
7. Replace the original sharedassets4.assets file (located in the same folder as resources.assets) with your new sharedassets4.assets
8. Play the Game with your new portrait

OR

You can skip everything and just copy this file to a folder "TidesOfNumenera_Data" :D

With pleasure (It was my original plan), but I could not find her image.
(Unfortunately I will not have a game before the end of the week.)
But if someone uploads her image here, it will be done within an hour.

That's great, op, thanks. Too bad ingame model can't be changed so easily.
A female alternative portrait would be very nice too, if you're up for it.
In the meantime, where is that old Matkina portrait...

I created a new procedure for adding my portrait.
Now you must just overwrite one file and you can play.

Much easier. :-)

P.S.
I'm working on a portrait for a woman, but her hair are serious challenge.
What lunatic designed these pictures?

Ok, I'm happy for now with these hacked portraits. Later I'll find some alternative to that terrible Erritis smudge hair job.

Can you do a variation of the male with the female hairstyle ? (the one Aramintai linked). Seems closest to the characters sprite animation.

p.s. Thank you for the first redesigned pic looks so much better than the base on.

I can confirm that while I'm able to change other portraits with the above procedure, for some reason it's not happening with Matkina's. A shame, since I hate that new portrait so much considering all the other official artwork for her looked fantastic.

I can't quite figure out what I'm doing wrong... I'm following the steps in OP instructions to replace in-game portrait for the female LC with the one Aramintai posted by replacing the Portrait-LCO_Female textures in the resources.assets file. Everything goes well, I can confirm by examination that the file textures were replaced. I save the .assets file and use it to replace the original one. But when I start a new game, the in-game portrait is still the old one :c Any ideas why this is happening? Thank you in advance for any assistance!

I've made a new texture but I can't figure out how to edit/replace the old one. Could you go into more details in the instructions?
