Re: Torment External News Thread
Managed to see the biggest part of the stream, and while I found it a little lacking compared to other developer commentary I've seen in the past, it was fun and enlightening nevertheless.
The one thing that really stuck out for me, however (besides Colin's list of favourite books), was him mentioning how he'd like to be involved in making a new Ultima* game. That is something I'm awaiting for ages. So if that should ever become a reality, count me in!**
___________
[*] He'd been fairly vague, actually, but he really can only be referring to Ultima VII, right!?
[**] I was not hyped at all for SoTA, and so far am very happy I haven't backed that. I may give it a try upon release, provided offline single player is worth playing.

Re: Torment External News Thread
Today we're excited to reveal the latest trailer for Torment: Tides of Numenera. This epic cinematic story trailer recounts the lore leading up to the very moment that players begin their odyssey as the Last Castoff – the flesh-and-blood byproduct of a megalomaniacal deity known as the Changing God.

Are you going to have a Kickstarter update for this?sear wrote:Today we're excited to reveal the latest trailer for Torment: Tides of Numenera. Brian featured in a short interview over on alist daily: http://www.alistdaily.com/strategy/maki ... es-launch/
There's also a cool Torment preview over at Critical Hit that is probably a bit more interesting to backers, as it has answers from multiple team members and goes into a bit more detail on some topics: http://www.criticalhit.net/gaming/death ... s-numenera

We recently did a Q&A with the Torment art team where we took questions about the game! You can find the full Q&A on Facebook here, or on our web site. Most of these answers come courtesy of our art director on the game, Charlie Bloomer. Enjoy!

Re: Torment External News Thread
PS4 patch is coming:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017- ... on-updatesIt's safe to say Torment: Tides of Numenera, released last week, has a few technical bumps. I personally experienced them playing on PlayStation 4.
In roughly 30 hours I had a few crashes, got physically stuck on scenery, and saw monsters get confused in combat and turn around on the spot, exacerbating already sluggish turn-times greatly. The frame-rate was choppy too.
None of this was enough to spoil my overall very positive experience of the game, but it's clear Torment: Tides of Numenera could do with an update or two. But where are they? Nothing has been released and neither inXile nor publisher Techland, which handled the console versions, has said anything.
I asked inXile boss Brian Fargo for an update at the weekend. His response was brief but assured me updates were coming.
"We are aware of the frame-rate dropping down on a few of the larger areas with Torment and we are on the case working on a solution," he told me. "The game is still quite enjoyable but we will continue to provide updates to improve the experience, as we do with all our games."

Re: Torment External News Thread
I thought that one was only available in early beta, as I couldn't repeat it in consequent builds.

It is supposed to be a novel thing, getting quirky legacies. You can also die another way in the first 5 minutes too. I'm surprised its getting so much grief. I liked it and thought it was a novel idea.Gizmo wrote:I did it.Drool wrote:...5 minutes?![]()

Big black monolith zaps you right after leaving the crater and entering the reef.
I do wish though it gave you a trophy for all the different legacies.
