Ranger Citadel post-Highpool bug?

So, I defended Highpool and got Kate Preston elected--job well done, right?

Apparently not, because when I got back to Ranger HQ after clearing Ag Center, everyone's pissed at me because they believe McJerkface, Bergin got elected. Checked back in Highpool; Kate's still in the mayor's office.

I haven't cleared the wrecker base yet. Maybe that has an effect? All I know is, it's frustrating to be chewed out for something I didn't do. :(

Sorry to say that I'm experiencing the exact same bug, and it's very annoying.

I cleared out the water reclamation plant and helped the survivors, then Kate won the vote. Immediately after doing all that, I cleared out the remnants of the Wrecking Crew. Back in Highpool, Bergin still isn't mayor but he has come over to my side, saying that we're doing our job right. Kate is in the mayor's office. There are no remaining sidequests left in Highpool at this time, as far as I can tell.

At Ranger Citadel, everyone is chewing me out for saving Highpool but letting Bergin take over - which he clearly hasn't, Kate has.

I am using the latest version of W2 on GOG, patched to 2.1 using the 1.5gb patch (patch_wasteland2_2.2.0.11) and then the 1.3mb hotfix (patch_wasteland2_2.3.0.12) on top of that.

I do want to stress that W2 has so far been a very enjoyable game, but this very odd bug is really getting on my nerves. Having every guy at Ranger Citadel loudly voicing their disappointment over something I actually succeeded in doing is very frustrating.

Just wanted to add that after a little more poking around, the issue seems to be more contained than I thought, at least in my case.

Vargas still mentions in his initial greeting dialogue that Kate became mayor ("You chose to save Highpool over Ag Center..." etc), which is correct. His actual dialogue tree is functioning properly. However, the barks (that is to say, the floating speech without the dialogue UI that appears when you get close to certain NPCs) of certain characters in the Citadel are all incorrect. Notably, the cartographer and the quartermaster both call you out for dropping the ball in Highpool and say Bergin is a shoo-in - even if Vargas just praised you for getting Kate elected mayor.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems like whenever the events of Highpool are referenced in a dialogue tree proper, they identify the results correctly. Whenever the events of Highpool are referenced in a bark, the result is incorrect. Again, I'm not 100% sure this is absolutely the case, but these are the observations I've made after fiddling around.

Hopefully this glitch just affects a few erroneous barks and doesn't skew results later in the game, but I'm not far enough to say whether that's the case.

I just doubled-down and got the PS4 version - I'm seeing this same issue there.

Have you spoken with both Bergin and Kate after cleaning up the Wrecking Crew HQ? Does the quest show as solved in the log book?
