How to continue saved game in linux version?

Post by TheDwarf » May 25th, 2014, 9:11 am

I am unable to find any way of continuing a saved game in the linux version
Am I missing something, or is there a misconfiguration somewhere?

I don't know anything about Linux or the Linux version of WL1, but I think you'll need to provide a little more information so people can help.

When you load the game, what happens? Does the screen not give any option to continue? Does the select game option show nothing?

As a shot in the dark: have you set the directory where the game saves to read-only or something like that so the game can't save?
Alwa nasci korliri das.

I neither work, nor speak, for inXile.

Not too late; make it eight!

Correct

as for

Nope - stock standard setup, the save files correctly save to:
~/.wasteland/
But the save files arent being seen by the launcher, and thus I'm not given any option to Continue, only NewGame

Should probably check your .conf file at # ~/.wasteland/wl.conf to see if it's set to the correct hard drive everywhere. Or just delete it to re-create it.

Also, it's possible you're running into a bug in DOSBox where if ~/ resolves to a path with spaces in it that can cause saves not to work. May that be the case?

What?
That makes no sense in linux context
~ == $HOME
always
from everwhere
Linux doesnt care about drives and doesnt have drive letters
Everything (and I do mean *everything*) is just mapped to a path or file
Or just delete it to re-create it.
Tried that
More than once
It gets recreated, and the LASTSAVE file (yes in all caps, and linux is case sensitive, but DOSBox isnt) gets created just fine, so do the <playername> paths (also in all caps)
Also, it's possible you're running into a bug in DOSBox where if ~/ resolves to a path with spaces in it that can cause saves not to work. May that be the case?
There's no spaces in any path - not to the wasteland1 folder, and not to ~/.wasteland/

Yeah as you can probably tell I've never used a Linux so my familiarity is limited.

Probably best if you mail us at support@inxile.net, attached your .conf file, and we can get the programmer in charge of this to look into it.
