Be careful with the Super Loot bags

Post by rurouni » November 9th, 2013, 3:38 am

The loot bags still work in Quartz (haven't tried in Needles yet), but there is sometimes a glitch if you use it and exit the inn. You may end up in a square box with no way to get out.

Restoring the maps doesn't help in this case for me. Anyone tried the loot bags in Needles? Have some fond memories of the Red Ryder rifle heh.

We'll make sure this gets to the engineers to check out. However, if you could provide more details in a support email or ticket such as hardware, OS, etc., that would help.

Sure thing. I've tried it on a Mac running OSX Mavericks but the 'problem' is also replicable on a PC Win7 Home. Both are running on quad core Intel i7s with 8 gig of memory.

Again I mention its a 'problem' only if you intend to just have fun with the super loot bags, as I guess under regular game conditions, a player isn't supposed to get a super loot bag.

Sequence as to how to get the loot bag and the glitch

1. Goto Quartz
2. Enter Stagecoach Inn
3. Kill Mulefoot
4. Enter Room (forgot number but the room with a bum in the south west corner)
5. Ask bum about 'MONEY'
6. Discover Loot in the chair in the same room
7. Take one item from the loot bag in the room but not all so that the bag remains
8. Exit the room and proceed south to the chainfence in the Inn until you come to a map tile that goes 'A chair slumps by the wall'
9. You will discover another loot bag
10. Drop an item at the same location over the loot bag
11. Select which char gets loot (it may not always work for all characters - so some trial and error is needed)
12. Super Loot Bag goodies are available
13. However sometimes, after looting and equipping the items, leaving the inn subsequently will result in the party avatar entering a town map with just four walls and no way to exit
14. There will be no way to reset the map subsequently (Though I'm still trying out sequences that may work)

I used the Super Loot bag with no problems in Acapulco. I think the one in the Stagecoach Inn has always been buggy and caused problems with leaving.

The "Super Loot" bags were unique to the IBM/PC versions of the original Wasteland game... the 'problems' you describe were known to be 'happening' there also.

In the "Super Loot" at the Stagecoach Inn, you'd find two 'groups' of Throwing Knives (12 & 15 items).
Not sure now which group it was, BUT the more you took, the farther you'd be north of the main entrance when exiting through that entrance... taking them all resulted in 'standing on the river bank' outside of Quartz ! That also 'altered' the dialogue at the clerk's desk.

SAVE copies of your Game1 & Game2 files BEFORE 'playing' with this one !!!!! ---
In the "Super Loot" at Fat Freddy's Casino -
Look through the bag, you will eventually come to a group of:
* 11 Uzi SMG Mark 27s
11 Laser carbines
11 Howitzer shells
11 Kevlar suits
. etc .

Grab six (6) of the Uzi SMG Mark 27s.
Leave Fat Freddy's Casino through the door by which you came.
You will now be, believe it or not, in a building in Quartz ( map 5 for those keeping score ).
Exit through the door on the left. You will find yourself back in Fat Freddy's Casino.
At the door, there will be a loot bag. DO NOT TAKE IT.
Go to the first group of NPCs just south of the door to the casino.
Fight the 1 Gambler and the 1 Prostitute. They will drop a loot bag.
Also, try to initiate this encounter while no other groups are on screen. They will want to fight, too.
Now, either the loot bag at the door or the one from this encounter will become a super loot bag.
Take the contents of one, the other will be a super loot bag.

ALSO !!! Beware that the door out of Fat Freddy's no longer takes you anywhere !

When "trapped" inside of Fat Freddy's the ONLY 'escape' is to "meet Freddy" and REFUSE his offer (while no one has a Gas Mask) and get 'transported' to the Vegas Jail cell... you'll need to "rescue" Covenant, or already have him in your 'party' to 'escape' from the Jail Cell !

AND Fat Freddy's "REMAINS A TRAP" - the entrance ONLY ALLOWS entry ! NOT EXITING !!!

12/08/13 - Final Note -
The regular "Loot Bag" Jail's "Vault" has also become a "Super Loot" bag now (can't remember if the "book" & "guards" loot bags changed or not ?) !!!
