That was also our thinking. We don't want to end up increasing the system requirements (that's not something we're intentionally doing, but it might need to happen), only to end up with a portion of people whose game no longer works.

If you still get the "old" Unity 4 version when you buy WL2 then, they they will HAVE TO support it - because they're selling it, which means updating it if bugs persist in the old version or updating it for compatibility for new version of Windows and video drivers, etc.
I don't know if new buyers will get the old Unity 4 version too or not, but it'll definitely not be supported. It'll be left "as is", and no, it won't ever be patched for compatibility for more modern OS, ... the version that will be maintained will be the Unity 5 version, and that's all fine. They'll just leave "as is" the Unity 4 version for those who want it.

Hrm, they definitely did their best to maintain save game compat between all released version from 1.0 to patch 6. I did two playthrough, and none of them was finished with the same version it was started.

Great! That was actually what I wanted to know, I'll definitely play the DC but it's good to know that the older saves won't be 100% lost.
Just to be crystal clear, it's not definite at this point that they're releasing D-Cut separately. But they did say that they're considering it, largely in response to people like yourself who want to keep old saves.

What I would like to see is Wasteland done in the W-2 style eventually. A while ago some retard was talking about COPS maps. I tried to explain to him that the travel map would be the same as W-2. When you enter locations the areas would be the same as in W-2 but just as they were in the original Wasteland.
